Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang, and Macao Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah are in Beijing to give their annual work report to the central government. On Tuesday, President Hu Jintao met with the two Special Administrative Region heads.
It's Donald Tsang's first visit to Beijing since he took office in June.
A warm reception by Hu Jintao showed support for Tsang's work in Hong Kong.
The president said the central government is positive about Hong Kong's overall situation, and praised the SAR government's recent efforts for constitutional reform.
They also reviewed the past half-year since Donald Tsang took the post of Hong Kong Chief Executive. Hu Jintao praised Tsang for his ability and work in making economic and social progress in the region.
Tsang pledged greater efforts in his work, while the central government said it would continue to support Hong Kong's development in all aspects.
Also on Tuesday, Hu Jintao met with Macao Chief Executive Ho Hau Wah. In their talks, Hu Jintao expressed satisfaction on behalf of the central government over Macao's development, underlining its achievements in culture and sports, as well as its economic and social advances.
