The Secretary-General of the Bo'ao Forum for Asia thinks the platform has become more focused on concrete economic cooperation discussions. And ahead of this weekend's event, Long Yongtu said organizers have been searching for new ways to push growth in Asia.
The forum takes place in Boao in China's southern island province of Hainan. The Boao Forum for Asia is a non-governmental, not-for-profit international organization. About 850 high-profile political leaders, scholars and entrepreneurs from Asia and around the world will gather in Boao this weekend to search for new opportunities for Asia to push its growth to new heights.
Long Yongtu, Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia, said, "The Boao Forum for Asia has gradually moved in a direction of dealing with concrete issues. It not only discusses the general tendency of Asia's economic development, but is also beginning to discuss some specific cooperation issues. The discussion of various concrete issues is welcomed by Chinese people as well as foreigners."
The theme of this year's Boao forum is "New Opportunities for Asia To Drive Growth to the Next Level." Countries and companies in Asia are seeking opportunities in the global economy. And other regions and companies outside of Asia also are interested in exploring the benefits of the fast-growing Asian economy. Among the topics to be discussed are Asian financial integration, energy cooperation and the partnership between China and India. Other topics include those relating to China's development, including the reform of China's state-owned enterprises, as well as banking reform.
